Migrating an exsisting Wordpress website to synology.

Unread post by VMR2 » Wed Jul 25, 2018 9:45 pm

Hi Everyone,

I'm currently trying to migrate an existing Wordpress website that's being hosted by a provider to my Synology NAS box. I have not been able to find any documentation that steps you through migrating an existing website to the Synology platform so any links people have found that talk about this specifically and not just installing Wordpress would be much appreciated.

Currently I have installed:
Maria DB 10
Apache 2.2
Apache 2.4
PHP 5.6
PHP 7.0
PHPmyadmin
wordpress app

I have not been able to figure out how to make the Wordpress application work with an exsisting website so I went through the process as if i was switching hosting providers below.

1) I downloaded the configuration files and Mysql data base from our hosting site

2) I updated My NAS and installed the most current version of Wordpress, Maria DB10, apache 2.2, php 5.6 and myadminPHP

3)I created a new folder in the web folder for webstation giving it read/write permsions for http

4) I uploaded my configuration file to this folder

5) I Uploaded my sql data base into myadminphp

6) I created a user in myadminphp that had read write permsions for this data base

7) I modified my wp_config.php file to point at the new data base and user credentials

8) I modified the options tab in myadminphp to point the URL at the local address http://10.100.9.95/"websitename"

9)I opened web station and setup php 5.6 and allowed all file types.

10) I setup a virtual station with apache 2.2 and php 5.6 with my file location

with this configuration I either get a 404 error or a 500 error.

If I'm missing any steps or your can make any suggestions please let me know.

Thank you.
