howto: 2 different usb drive with same share name

Unread post by mrcmobile » Fri Jul 13, 2018 3:11 pm

Hi friends,
I have 2 different usb hard drives, I would like to use to save 2 different copies of bakcups, made with Hyperbackup.

Problem: if I connect the first usb drive, it will be named as usbshare1, and this is ok.
I setup a backup to usbshare1 with Hyperbackup, and ok, everything is fine.

Then, I disconnect this usb drive, and I connect a similar usb drive, BUT.... this will be named usbshare2 (even if there are no other usb drive connected). Why?
This is not good, because Hyperbackup search for usbshare1 to make backups. And so, it fails.

How to solve?
Thank you.

Create a new HB task for usbshare2.

Hi Telos, I thank you, but this should be a last chance, not a solution.

If I create 2 separate HB, I will receive always an error notification, when wrong destination disk is connected.
With another DS (ds216) I reach to use 2 identical usb disks and switch them alternatively. They are always named usbdisk1, and there are no problems.
I don't understand why, with this DS1815, it doesn't work

Best regards.
