UPS connected to DiskStation has reached low battery

Unread post by MartyDavis » Sat Jun 23, 2018 8:43 pm

After updating to DSM 6.2-23739, I have started receiving repeat notifications which state: UPS connected to DiskStation has reached low battery. These occur at an irregular frequency. For example, 55, 40, 37, 34, 10 minutes ago.

My APC UPS shows full battery strength and normal line voltage conditions. It hasn't indicated any problems with the incoming power.

Any ideas on how to disallow this erroneous message?

hi

100% same problem here - after latest softwareupgrade.

I am told, there is just 45 sec. of power left on my APC Back-UPS cs 500.

Installed a brand new battery in the UPS - same problem.

It must be a softwareerror - please fix!

Greeting from Denmark
Hans

This is a USER forum, where problems can be discussed.

Bugs have to be reported to Synology itself.

I have the same problem on two of my Synology NAS (DS112J and DS716+). Both worked without issues until after upgrading to the latest version of DSM 6.2-23739.

I have the same problem on my DS412+! I had just replaced the battery in my Backup-UPS CS350 (after running for over 5 years without any problems). But this Synology 'bug' (?) is bugging me. In the Device Info it says: Estimated Battery Time: 0 seconds but Battery Charged: 100%. I'm not too worried because I'm running on a new battery but it should say what the estimated battery time is so there won't be any warning messages send.

I have the same problem on my DS1515+ units. The UPS (CS650) has been functioning very well for many years, but after the latest couple of updates (now: DSM 6.2-23739 Update 1) I get one or two of these messages every day.
It would be nice if Synology could look into it and create an update to fix it.

Hello to all fellow Synology DS owners/admin:

First, I recommend that you all open a ticket with Synology to report any issues found after an update. When you open a ticket with them they will have the knowledge of what is happening and will investigate to find a solution or at the very least provide guidance on how to resolve the problem.

I opened a ticket with them and they responded promptly. The Synology developers are aware of this issue and have determined the cause. Currently the work around for this is to turn off low battery notifications in Control Panel > Notification before v6.2.1 is available. Synology is working on a fix that should be implemented in v6.2.1. I was not provided with an ETA for v6.2.1. I hope that this provides some information and workaround to this issue.

Respectfully,

Urashima Taro

Has this been fixed already?

I have been getting these low UPS battery alerts even though I'm already at DSM 6.2-23739 Update 2 and still getting this bug. Isn't that DSM version supposed to be more recent than 6.2.1?

Is something being done about this? I got 300 emails over weekend for this, it's out of control.

I just wanted to raise my hand and say that I'm seeing the same problem on my DS1817+. My UPS is a CyberPower EC850LCD. Hope they push a fix for this soon, but for now I've disabled notifications and opened a Support Ticket with Synology.

I'm wondering if disabling UPS Support entirely is a wise move or not, as I don't want the DiskStation to power itself off if it thinks the battery is low (hasn't happened yet, but I'm worried that it might).
