SHR-2 Volume expansion stuck on "Initializing disk..." step?

Unread post by anatomatic » Wed May 10, 2017 6:03 pm

I'm expanding a SHR-2 volume on a new 1817+ (adding an 8TB to 2x 10tb, 8tb, 3tb shr-2 array). I know it should take a long time but it's been on the "Expanding (initializing disk...)" step for 48hrs, with no progress percentage readout in Disk Manager or when I run

Code: Select all

cat /proc/mdstat
over SSH.

Should I just keep waiting? Will it eventually finish? Can I safely abort? Should I abort?

To anyone who encounters this problem. Phone support recommended I force shutdown, and retry process, which worked without damaging the volume. Be sure that no expansion process is taking place and it really is stuck on initialization first.
