mount.nfs access denied

Postby richard8003 » Sun Sep 20, 2015 9:26 am

Hi everyone!

I am running Ubuntu on my computer and yesterday i tried to map my Synology DS212 using NFS.
I followed Synologys own tutorial and it worked like a charm.
I mounted the "media" folder from my NAS in the /mnt folder to start with. I was pleased to see it work but i wanted to change the mount point to something else so i ran an umount command and then tried to remount the NAS but the i got this message:

mount.nfs: access denied by server while mounting 192.168.1.100:volume1/media

if i run the command showmount i get this:

richard@BLinux:~/Desktop$ showmount -e 192.168.1.100
Export list for 192.168.1.100:
/volume1/media 192.168.1.71
richard@BLinux:~/Desktop$

(.71 being my Ubuntu machine, ive allso tried with a *) this tells me that the NAS allows /volume1/media to be mounted but still i get this access denied.

Any ideas?

Thanks /Richard

I have the ds213j

What i did was

Server
Turn on NFS
Setup Shared folder
Configure it so my entire subnet can mount it 192.168.1.* with read write
thats the server done

Client
Create folder in /mnt
change permissions on folder to a user:group
edit fstab with 192.168.1.200:/volume1/foldertoshare /mnt/foldertoaccess nfs defaults,guest,users 0 0

All that worked a treat for me. Have you tried restarting the nfs service on your desktop? Have you tried restarting the NAS?
