Mysterious folder in Audio Station

Postby Danabw » Tue Dec 05, 2017 5:17 pm

I have a folder listed in Audio Station under the "By Folder" view under My Music.

It is labeled "Muisc."

Clearly most likely explanation is a typo on my part, which I'd like to correct, but I can't find the folder anywhere other than in Audio Station under "By Folder." It does not appear anywhere I can see in File Station, and even if I search in File Station from the top level it does not appear.

Appreciate any help in locating where this folder exists so I can view/rename this folder.

Over 30 views and no one has any ideas or suggestions...

Just my luck, I have something that doesn't come up often. :)

I'm open to WAG (wild-a**-guesses) in addition to sage recommendations. It's making me crazy that I have this "muisc" folder somewhere on my NAS and I can't see/find it to fix it!

I'm probably no help, but I have 2 folders in folder view... Music and Music (home).

The Music folder contains my audio libraries. That same folder appears in File Station as a primary folder under "DiskStation". A search in File Station should identify the folder location if it isn't immediately visible.

Thanks for your reply.

I've searched multiple times across all folders/subfolders and never find the elusive "muisc" folder!

I do have a "Music" (spelled correctly) folder as a primary folder at the top-level. and have confirmed that there is no "Muisc" folder inside there.

So bizarre...wish I could figure out where this folder exists.

I haven't done anything in a Linux command line in years...Maybe I'll have to go do some reading to refresh my memory and see if I can find it that way.

Hi,

did you try to reindex your music already?
DS-916+ | DSM 6.1.4-15217-2 | 2 x WD40EFRX (RAID1-btrfs) | 2 x WD10EFRX (RAID1-btrfs) (AS, Calendar, Chat, CMS, Docker, Hyper backup, PS, Snapshot Replication, SVN, VS, WS, Webdav)
  • Startech S3510SMU33 | WD20EFRX (ext-4)
DS-213J | DSM 6.1.4-15217-2 | 2 x WD5000AAKS (RAID0-ext4) (Download Station)
DS-209 (DS211j modded) | DSM 6.1.4-15217-2 | 2 x WD20EFRX (RAID1-ext4) (Hyper backup vault)

Corruption wears infinite disguises.

Thanks for your reply.

No - I haven't re-indexed in years, as I haven't added any music to my library in a long time due to doing more streaming of music from YouTube Red and other subscription services.

So sounds like you believe that I have some old info in my music database (including the "Muisc" folder) and re-indexing would clear that up. Is that correct?

Thanks!

Yeah, if re-index is for some reason disabled or not started automatically, it could that this folder persists in the database. Afaik a re-index should resolve it if this is something from the past.

Thanks! I've kicked off the re-indexing, and expect that will resolve the issue. Really appreciate your help with this.

While I have you here, do you have any ideas on my other, more interesting problem? :)

And the weird folder is gone! Thanks very much for your help with this. :)
