[file station] cannot run / update / remove package under DSM 6.1.2-15132

Postby pawel.wec » Fri Jun 30, 2017 11:02 am

Hi,

Since DSM update to version 6.1.2-15132 there is no access to File Station.
First things first:
- gear: DiskStation 412+
- DSM Version: DSM 6.1.2-15132
- File Station Version: 1.1.1-0095

Package appears as corrupted. There is repair option. Repair function is not working - keeps giving 2 entries in log:
Level Log Date/time Entry
Error System 2017.06.30 11:16 Failed to repair package [File Station].
Error System 2017.06.30 11:16 Failed to uninstall package [File Station].
Those appear after each attempt to update (no matter if it's update from Synology or forced by user)

Forced option looks like this:
- package center shows error for File Station package
- i'm using Repair option
- package center is downloading file
- goes trough install process
- gives error "failed to repair..."

Hand install is giving the same error.

Since this error appeared, diskstation is of no use to me (since i'm heavily relying on desktop aplication via browser of whitch File Station is core element allowing to browse trough files.

Has anyone stumbled upon this issue? Is there any way to repair it without reinstalling DiskStation? Please advice.

This appears to be a rare outlier - never experienced or heard of anything like this on the Syno box before. But the list of things I am unaware of is long.

In cases like this I would start over with new, clean DSM install, rather than spend alot of time trying to fix something that seems broken beyond repair.

I am also having this issue. It's the second time, the first time happened a version or two before. Sorry, I didn't note the number.

I was told by support that the issue would be fixed in the next version of the DSM, and had hoped that it would be out before now. They also offer to fix it if you give them a login ID and allow access to your device, something that I'm not comfortable in doing.

Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

I also noticed that "Audio Station" was having the same issue, so I pulled that. I just tried to install it, and it's failing. So I tried "Download Station" it also is failing to install, actually it looks like all package installs are failing. That is VERY worrisome.

Hi All,

I'm experiencing the exact same issue.

2017-07-12 10:38:29 Error NetDrive System Failed to repair package [File Station].
2017-07-12 10:38:23 Error NetDrive System Failed to uninstall package [File Station].

Strange thing is that Download Station has the exact same issue, but this can be removed an reinstalled but also without success:

Error Systeem 2017/07/12 10:38:51 Failed to install package [Download Station].
Information Systeem 2017/07/12 10:37:55 Package [Download Station] has been successfully uninstalled.

Error Systeem 2017/07/12 10:19:18 Failed to repair package [Download Station].

Error Systeem 2017/03/22 00:47:35 Failed to update package [Download Station].

And they both started failing on the exact same time, i'm thinking that they have an issue with their package center servers up in synology and changed or posted a wrong package for those two.

Same problem here on a DS2415+.

Just upgraded to the latest DSM 6.1.2-15132 Update 1 but that hasn't helped either.

Hi All,

I've received a solution from Synology Support.

If you would like to fix this issue on your own, please SSH into your system with the following guide:
https://www.synology.com/en-global/know ... SSH_Telnet

Be sure to be in root privledges by typing:
Sudo SU

It will prompt for your password

Then execute the command below:
for p in /usr/local/libexec/*; do [ -L "$p" ] && rm "$p"; done

This command will fix corrupted file which stops user from repairing packages.
After executing this command, you should be able to repair them.

I performed these actions and they fixed the issue

Cheers.

Brilliant - that worked for me.

Seems a simple command that Synology could easily add to the gui repair process.

Return to “File Station”
