i am not really into most of the things you can do with a Synology NAS, considering I only used it to store my important Data (recordings from Camera, Photos, music, documents and stuff like that) the last 4 years on my old DS414. I know there is a million other and more professional things that can be done, but i never needed it for that. Anyways, recently my DS414 behaved a bit strange (which it never had before in 4 years), plus I needed more space anyways, so I purchased the DS187+ a couple days ago.
I wanted to do the System fresh from scratch.
Butt of course I wanted to copy things from my old HDDs of the DS414 into the new and bigger drive (s) on the DS1817+. So I read about remote folder, something I havent done before. Never needed it. I read the official FAQ concerning remote folder, but its not working for me. If i get that correct, for example I mount a Remote Folder (from the DS414) in one of my Shared folders on the new DS1817+, and connect them. Is that correct ?
Because whenever I try that, I get the following error.
Code: Select all
Which translated basically means:
Error with connection on Remote Folder. Please make sure the other Server is reachable via CIFS.
I stuck to the original documentation i found about that whole topic.
https://www.synology.com/en-global/know ... motevolume
What did I do wrong ? I googled a little bit, found similiar posts but they were never 100% like i have the issue. There was some about SMB settings as well, but I really dont know what the issue is.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for this noob question.
