DS207+ & WD3200YS HDD & 518 firmware STATUS ERROR

Unread post by maestro2912 » Sat Jan 05, 2008 12:21 pm

My chief bought DS207+ and installed 513 firmaware. After few days of working disk disappear from the network. He decided to install new 518 firmware. Since this installation, status led is flashing with orange light. After installing new firmware, Assistent complains again about missing configuration and suggests reinstalling firmware.

I decided to install old 513 firmware, but Assistant let's me install only new 518 firmware. I removed partition table from both HDD with CFDISK utility, but Assistant don' matter and allow installing only 518 firmware.

HDD are working, in my desktop I can write and read from them.

I don't know how to access synology drives, telnet or SSH doesn't work.

I don't find any way how to debug DS207+ , there must be some more debug output that can tell me more about the problem.

Can somebody help me?
Symptom is flashing orange STATUS led, forever, whatever I'm doing.

maestro2912-

The DS207+ cannot be downloaded to firmware 513 once you have installed version 518, because the the EEPROM data is different. Please refer to your PM for additional instructions for your system.

To get your system back into operation, please use 518.

maestro2912-

With regards to the update in your PM, please try the following suggestions

==quick method==
Remove the HDDs from the DS207+
Install them into a regular computer and delete the partitions
Install HDDs back in the DS207+ and apply the firmware I gave you in the PM

==better method==
Look here

Please note that using either procedure will cause lost of data on your hard disks, if you need to retrieve your data, please look here.
Note that the previous link is only effective for Non-RAID or RAID-1 Volumes, other RAID levels must employ a Linux Computer to view the data.

Note:Blinking Orange on the Status LED typically means Volume Error/Failure.
During Initial setup, it also means No OS detected.

Hope this helps
