Can't add DSM photo to Windows Pictures Library

Unread post by dick w » Mon Dec 04, 2017 6:58 pm

I tried to include \\DiskStation\photo in my client Windows 10 Library of Pictures. Windows refused, saying "This network location can't be included because it is not indexed."

Really? I thought it was? Does the DSM index somehow not integrate with Windows' need for an index? Is there a solution or workaround?

(I was only trying this to get around the DiskStation not showing up in Network Neighborhood due to SMB browsing issues discussed in numerous threads. I have at least one app, Sony Imaging Edge Viewer, that refuses to show the DiskStation in its tree view Network list.)
