IPKG / Bootstrapping with DSM 5 and Quadrat4

Postby delebre » Wed Feb 19, 2014 5:42 pm

I have a DS212+ (Marvel Kirkwood mv6282 ARM) and recently installed DSM 5 beta (Update 1). I tried installing Bootstrapper using the package source: http://packages.quadrat4.de

After installing it and rebooting, I tried to run ipkg update from an SSH session. It responds with -ash: ipkg: not found

I don't think it installed at all. Any suggestions?

Could I do it manually? If so, is the proper location for the bootstrap here:
http://web.archive.org/web/201210050358 ... -ds111.xsh

Thanks!

Yeah, that manual link you posted is where I got the link. I just wasn't sure if there was something newer that I wasn't aware of.

DSM updates can disable Optware and ipkg. Check you still have /opt mounted and have /opt/bin in your path -

Code: Select all

df -h
echo $PATH

should give something like -

Code: Select all

Filesystem                Size      Used Available Use% Mounted on
...
/volume1/@optware         5.4T      2.0T      3.3T  38% /opt
...
/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/opt/sbin:/opt/bin:/usr/syno/sbin:/usr/syno/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/root/bin

If you do have the /opt/bin/ipkg executable file and it is on the path and you still get that error then you may have installed the wrong version for your processor. In which case you'll need to remove it totally before trying to install another version.

i have the same problem , did you find a solution ?

Code: Select all

DiskStation> sh syno-mvkw-bootstrap_1.2-7_arm-ds111.xsh
Optware Bootstrap for syno-mvkw.
Extracting archive... please wait
bootstrap/
bootstrap/optware-bootstrap.ipk
bootstrap/wget.ipk
1227+1 records in
1227+1 records out
bootstrap/bootstrap.sh
bootstrap/ipkg.sh
bootstrap/ipkg-opt.ipk
Backup your configuration settings, then type:
  rm -rf /volume1/@optware
  rm -rf /usr/lib/ipkg
This will remove all existing optware packages.

You must *reboot* and then restart the bootstrap script.

I don't think you rebooted in your last attempt. Looks like you tried to remove Optware while it was still active.

Comment out or delete the Optware stuff in /etc/rc.local file and then reboot... don't skip this.
Then rm -rf /volume1/@optware
Reboot again for good measure.
Now run the downloaded bootstrap script.

Once it is installed properly you will have to add /opt/bin and /opt/sbin into the path in order to be able to run the additional executables.

It's unfortunate that the Optware script doesn't offer to uninstall itself if re-run. It would save an awful lot of failed installs.
