All major items on my network are named after Toy Story characters. The family are big fans.

My DS411J is called Slinky...

I rather like the name 'bitbucket'; however I think I will change the name of mine from 'diskstation' to 'TARDUS'. This name also fits for Mac users who use 'time machine'.

First I have to wait for my volume to build before I futz with things too much.

I was surprised to find "ohm" was still available as a QC ID. Gotta love those 3-4 character ID's!

I've had four so far, and I've given them all five-letter
treasure-ish names:

1. Trove
2. Booty
3. Stash
4. Was going to be Hoard, but reused Trove.

I like the name Vault from about a page back.

Well, I wasn't very creative with my name - it's called BWDISKSTATION, where the BW is just a prefix I use for the family stuff (it's the first letters of my wife's and my last names).

While choosing cool names can be fun, it can also be confusing in networks to have names like R2D2 (which of course is a cool idea by itself). That's one of the reasons I didn't go for a more fancy name.
The other reason is that probably everyone in my family would have a difference preference ;-)

I used to simply name it DiskStation, just like everything else in my local network just has its real name (iMac, MacBook, iPad, S30). But it became quite confusing when more DiskStations were added. Since my internet website is put under the domain name twisted.world I decided to register a separate name for my personal cloud: twisted.cloud (I love all these new TLDs!) Since then it became habbit to just make everything "twisted" in my local network. My backup NAS is TwistedBackup, my surveillance station NAS is TwistedCamera and so on...
