My name is Cheney and I'm in Dallas, Texas. I have a DS2413+ with seven 5tb drives and I'm got about 19tg of data on it currently, Mostly using it for media storage. Music, movies, tv shows, etc. I have a PLEX server running on a six CPU Dell server my company didn't need and it is aimed at the Synology box for its data and seems to like it just fine.
DS2413+ 12-bay with nine 5TB drives, 4gig ram.

My name Noel and work and live in London.
Run a DS716+ at home which runs plex for the family and hosts all our media. Just purchased the Synology 2600 router which will arrive tomorrow to replace the old apple one. I am sure I will be on the forums a lot to get advice and help others :-)

Steve (or Z) from Philly. Getting the DS1517+ and I am sure I will be on these forums poking and prodding for setup info. Looking forward to setting up Resilio Sync to keep everything organized on my portable devices and finally sorting all my data. My previous solution http://i.imgur.com/ntyjI2v.jpg was a custom job that used a sata multiplying JBOD that had a terrible failure corrupting six of the eight drives partition tables.

This new setup should be a much safer haven for my data.

Hi there. I am a new user from California. I have a ds416play with two new 4tb iron wolfs and two old seagate 1.5 tb drives. I am slowly learning my way around the dsm. I am a graphic designer and would like to use the nas to store past work files and resource materials (like textures, etc.)
Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I'm from the UK and have a DS211j with a couple of 2TB WD running SHP.

I use it for storing family photos, to backup a couple of PCs and as a feed for my Sonos.

Had it for about 5-6 years now, used to only power it up when I needed to, but since moving house recently I have a place for it to live powered on 24/7 - up time on the disks is about 1 year!
Performance has been a bit flaky.

Anyone know how to search for "I/O time" on this forum ????

Cheers,
Roy

Hi all! Noob from the UK here. Just purchased myself a DS1515+ to store my photos, run time machine back up for my Mac and host some VHDs via ISCSI on a new PC build,

Hey welcome to Synology! Wow that is good NAS there. For what purpose mostly do you use your NAS system? :)

I never introduced myself here :(

My nick is the name of one of my dogs, big black so called 'extremely dangerous' dog who wants to kiss everybody he sees

I've been around for years with Synology.

I have great faith in many Synology people - and little faith in some other Synology people.

Synology, in other words, is like the normal world. You have good people, and bad people.

I do believe that, overall, at this point in time, there is no better solution in the market than Synology. For sure FreeNAS (bullies) or NAS4Free aren't (despite ZFS - lack of support), QNAP isn't (bad support), the higher ends aren't comparable, and the lower ends, well, they aren't comparable either. And then there's only one left. The market leader - deserved: Synology.
Somebody here sucks big time. BIG time. Small...
