why Synology company and staff isn't using Mailplus internally? It seems they are using gmail

Postby emaxt6 » Fri Mar 25, 2016 12:01 am

Why Synology isn't using Mailplus internally? It seems they are using gmail (!?) infrastructure and not their synologies NASes.
I think that a company should rely and stress test its own software before its users if it provides such software... but maybe I'm too naive! :) It is like seeing Microsoft using gmail instead of its own Exchange servers! :)
In any case I will wait for synology company to use Mailplus themselves before deploying it to my clients :)

For example I've received this error (it was a temporary glitch) sending an email to synology support forms and as you can see synology.com addresses are expanded to gmail real gmail addresses under the hood:

It's probably just a few people using IMAP in Gmail. Likely, because they've been doing the same thing for years. Our backend is Mail Plus Server for things like the inquiry system and our standard emails. Remember that there's Mail Plus Server and Mail Plus Client. Personally I've actually started using the server-side filters (setup via Mail Plus Client in browser) and that's been working well enough as it makes any desktop client consistent. What people use for their client is ultimately down to preference.
If you need technical support please use this form: https://account.synology.com/support/support_form.php
Synology does not consistently browse this forum for technical support, feature requests, or any other inquiries as it notes at the top of the page. Please use the proper channels when you need help from someone at Synology.
