How can I open a port in DSM?

Unread post by Xorcist » Tue Mar 14, 2017 3:38 am

I attempted to run something like:

iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 12345 --syn -j ACCEPT

after SSHing into my DSM, but got an error saying iptables did not exist?

What is the proper way to open a port on the DSM, I have a custom app I want to run, but it requires a non-standard port to be opened.

You can set this in the security firewall settings.

My firewall is currently disabled, shouldn't that allow any port?

Best practice would be to enable the firewall and open only the ports that should be open. Just try, it will probably not harm...
