Nameserver support

Postby mviertel » Thu Mar 06, 2008 10:54 am

there is one thing that is still doing my head in, where a "small" feature on the NAS could help. I operate a simple workgroup environment at home, so there is no NT server here for ADS etc.
It would be great if the NAS could have a build in support for some form of name resolution. DNS would do it, although something like a small WINS server would really make things a lot easier. I hate NetBios name resolution, but I just had to readdress all my PCs and shares due to a subnet change and it ended up being a much bigger effort than expected.
To round it off, it would probably be nice if the NAS did DHCP as well, so it can really act as a small workgroup server.
