Hyper Backup + Backblaze B2

Postby dgibbs » Sun Jul 10, 2016 12:15 am

I have recently seen Backblaze B2 available on Cloud Sync and have started using this to replace crashplan to backup my home directory. This is brilliant to have a native application to to cloud backups cheaply. However I have noticed it doesn't appear to be able to to version control to restore older versions of a file.

Hyper Backup seems to be the solution to do version control. I saw that Amazon, Google Drive, Dropbox etc are supported on hyper backup but not B2 yet. Would it be possible to add B2 to the list of cloud providers for hyper backup?

Thank you

I'd like to see this as well.

Also, I would like to suggest adding a feature to DELETE files after backup. I know that sounds counter-intuitive, but it would be handy for archiving files to the cloud. (e.g. backup to Backblaze B2, then delete the files from Synology after successful upload)

I would also like to see support for Backblaze B2 in Hyper Backup. Amazon Drive would also be appreciated. I'm not sure why Synology didn't "centralize" the cloud provider access and then let any application use it as a destination.

For example if we could connect to Backblaze B2 or Amazon Drive using the file manager "Remote Connection" feature to mount the service and then just point Hyper Backup to it as "local" storage.

+1 to this request. Backblaze is the most cost effective online backup option, and would love to see some native support in a versioning backup like hyperbackup.

+1 the current implementation over cloudsync is tedious and results in huge costs because of the API requests it sends overtime it wants to check for files on B2 (tons of request that fall under the paid API request type). Cloudsync is made for sync not big backups.

@puja103
Increasing the polling period from the default 60 seconds reduces drastically the Transactions Class C of Backblaze. See this post by Daniel Gibbs: https://danielgibbs.co.uk/2016/08/b2-cl ... -synology/

+1

Switched from Crashplan backup to Cloud Sync to B2 4 months ago.

Only problem is CloudSync cannot backup applications (DS Note is what I need specifically) so I run this separately in HyperBackup to a DropBox account.

I like the interface of HyperBackup but with 5TB cloud use I think all the supported destinations are too expensive :)
