More VPN Plus server licenses on higher model RT2600ac router

Unread post by Abusimbal » Tue Jan 31, 2017 3:07 pm

Hello,

Bought saterday a new RT2600ac as replacement for my RT1900ac.
Is it possible to give 2 free licenses on the RT2600ac in stead of 1 as the RT1900ac ? RT2600ac is a higher more expensive model.

Please support 64 character HEX wireless passphrase on your routers like every other manufacturer.

I miss the following ...

- the possibility to name the device upon setup, as it is for DSM ...
- more icons in traffic control (switch, router, home alarm ...)

RT1900ac not allocating outside subnet.

Unread post by i00 » Wed Feb 08, 2017 11:09 pm

Basically I want the inbuilt DHCP server to allow reservations to be set outside the subnet mask..

For example I want the DHCP to set clients to 192.168.0.100-200 and set reserverations in the 192.168.99.x ranges.

If I set their address manually on the devices all works fine after adding the additional settings to the Static Route table.

If I try and statically allocate them on the router, there is no error, and it lets me set reservations to 192.168.99.x; however these computers do not get allocated their reservation, but instead just get a dynamically allocated one if the range is outside of the expected!

Thanks,
Kris

Feature request:

DS Audio app that works with the Media Server package on the RT2600ac
Schedule feature in the Control Panel (setting schedule for turning router on and off)

Re: Synology router feature requests; DHCP options

Unread post by gpglang » Wed Feb 15, 2017 2:04 pm

I just learned working with RT1900 (and DS412+) that the DS has a lot more DCHP settings (like DHCP options) as the RT1900 (and I think the same for the RT2600).
But the RT1900 is a router...
So, I have to disable DHCP on the RT1900 to be able to setup PXE (and therefor DHCP) on the DS.
Is that not the world upside down?

So, please give the RTxxxx FULL DHCP management (including all options).
And have PXE enablement in DSM work independently from the DHCP options.
And make sure DHCP and DNS do cooperate when both are enabled.

I love when great products become even better!

thx

My ISP Century Link supports IPV6 6rd, but the RT2600 does not support that protocol and I am unable to connect using IPV6. I know that Asus, Netgear, Cisco and other routers support 6rd and I would appreciate if you could do the same with an upgrade.

The ability to host multiple static (virtual) IPs on the (primary) WAN NIC, and expanded port forwarding.

- The current WAN and port forwarding configuration only allows for a single NIC IP preventing the ability to (easily) host otherwise conflicting services behind the router (2600) (eg. mail servers, web servers). Having the ability to put multiple virtual IPs (eth0:x) on the WAN NIC and then specify the target IP in the port forwarding rules removes this limitation.
- Creating multiple port-forwarding rules (for Primary/Fail-Over WAN configuration) is just fine. Specifying the static target IP for the primary WAN in one rule, and then specifying the 'NIC' as the target for the secondary NIC (assuming it's a DHCP connection) for items that 'require' fail-over abilities (leveraging DDNS during the fail-over).

Be able to run VPNClient (To connect my Syno Router to my cloud server) and VPNServer (To connect remote notebook to my Syno Router) at the same time.

Same here with my Canadian provider videotron. This feature, ipv6 6rd, has been available on my last 2 routers (EA4200 & rt-ac87u) and it would be great to have now on my new rt2600ac.

We have two RT2600, one for the office and another one for private use so my feature request touch different areas:

Home:
- Use accounts on DSM box on router. I would appreciate to re-use the accounts found on an existing DSM box for the router so that passwords can be shared. I know that LDAP would be the full fledged solution but that's too big for a home setup.
- Parental Controls: I would love to see a more fine grained time grid (15/30 minutes) as well as a time quota (e.g.my kids shall not use the internet for more than 90 minutes per day). Take a look at AVM, they have great features here.
- Allow excluding certain devices from using the guest access (thereby circumventing parental controls)

Company:
- DHCP Server Options: Allow additional options (TFTP boot server/image, ...) published via DHCP. Would help with VoIP deployments.
- More complex firewall rulesets than just a simple DMZ system
- VLAN support (again, this is helpful for VoIP setups)

Thx

Mathias
