Synology Packages - Wishlist

Postby 2326766 » Thu Sep 11, 2008 5:50 am

Now that Squeezecenter is released and an official package supported by Synology, I thought we could have a "Package Wishlist"

1. OPENLDAP (slapd) - the ability for an ldap directory to maintain a user directory, addressbook, for authentication.

2. Mediawiki or other open source Content Management System

3. PHPbb or other open source Forum

I think the openldap module could easily be done, the others I'm not sure since they require mysql.

Anyone else with package wishes?

Here is my wishlist:

1. Xmail + configurationtools. Today I've realized I have to reinstall ipkg etc every time I try a new firmware... Not so nice
2. Mediatomb. I have 2 1TB usb drives with mediafiles so the built in mediaserver i pretty useless for me.
3. A bunch of small but good php/ipkg (apt in readynas) tools for deeper configuration etc. Ex if you have +500 user, you need real admintools.
4. Prepacked php tools (yes I know there is guides for those, but why not? Keep It Simple). Ex. PhpMyadmin, Joomla, Crossfire (for iphone), Xplorer etc
5. SNMP
6. An Open source music-player instead of the built in

MusicIP Mixer (... if we can move them to make a Linux PPC version first)
I'm really missing this feature since I moved SqueezeCenter from my PC to my DS-106

Hi !

What would be great is a VLC package.

Video Transcoding would be possible. We could use it with UPNP server for exemple ?

Bye.

What also be usefull is that you cabn use your nas as an gatewayscanner for internetvirussen.
option to scan new pc if there is an antvirus onboard before they can go on the internet.

Well, I do fully agree! So, although currently MusicIP doesn't support the PPC platform, both a little pressure and support from Synology towards MusicIP might help...

Ohhh YES :-)
This would be really nice - I just discovered that MusicIP wasn't supported on the DS when trying to figure out how to install it the other day... - I was looking forward to getting some "intelligent" playlists in SqueezeCenter.
Cheers, Tommy
