Synology pulled 6.2 from the download sites. Be cautious installing if you still have the older download/code. We managed to brick two systems with 6.2 and their hardware had to be replaced (thanks Synology!) to get them back running.
So many Synology systems for so many years starting at DSM V1.x.

Thanks for the warning.

It would be nice though, if these kind of warnings came from Synology.

Everytime they pull a new DSM (which is more and more often) there is a deafening silence from Synology.
I dont get it, as they send me all kinds of other securitywarnings, they have a homepage and a forum etc.

Take a look at the MailPlus Team - they communicate with their costumers.

My old 1515+ just died yesterday which is updated to 23739 automatically. I have to buy a new model of 1517+. But ironically Synology pulled out 23739 out of its website.... While immigration to a new NAS requires to install DSM newer than 23739. What a funny thing.

And also not afraid to do that openly on this forum. I very much respect it. +1

Yes, and I believe in Santa too!
Within a couple of hours they removed it at ALL their sites including the archives.
It's fair enough to remove it temporarily if they suspect a problem - just be honest, please.

This seems more believeable to me:

What IS funny is that you are "immigrating" to a new NAS. I sure hope it's all legal...

(Sorry, I couldn't resist...)
The move to the new "community" is just another example of Synology not caring about customer wishes and [Please control your language] us all in the behind. I'll be leaving this forum and NOT be joining the new "community". It was a fun ride. Please don't expect any replies from me because the e-mail address associated with my Synology account will be disabled. Goodbye and thanks for the great time while it lasted.

Per tech support -- who sent me a link to the new file since 6.2 is still not showing up for me in the downloads even though it apparently is on their end. No information as to why it was pulled. Would love to see an analysis from anyone who has both versions of the file - the pre-pull DSM file and the post pull upgrade file. From what I can tell the sizes are different between the two by about 380 KB - but that is all I know.

>>

I asked my manager and 6.2 was apparently pulled for a couple of hours around 1ish in the morning Pacific time, it should be available now for all applicable units. If you're not seeing it, it could be a caching issue on our side as well. The file is ok to download now however.

Anywho, here's the link as promised:

Fascinating. I downloaded DSM_DS216+II_23739.pat on June 4. It came in at 257.6MB (SHA-1: 65319351fdfdc608cf15d8788ddf521ac13c872e). Installed it a short while ago and it went flawlessly. Then saw this thread, downloaded again to compare and got the same build number DSM_DS216+II_23739.pat, which came in at 256.8MB (SHA-1: 63053bf38bd93a03f21b3e6d33dd9cd13322b1af). It's just not OK to keep the same build number for two different downloads. Gads. What now? What explains the 0.8MB size difference? I'm going to file a ticket with Synology for an explanation.

Well, so much for Synologys lame excuse:
"Download site for DSM 6.2 is under maintenance and will be available soon."

Why not keep the customers properly informed - instead of this politician/marketing lingo, that no one believes anyway?

Again: Look at the MailPlus team. They are open about problems, informs us about what they will do about it, when they will do it and what we (customers) can do in the meantime. It's not that difficult and it makes them very credible.

The latest version at that link is DSM_DS216se_23739.pat - have you tried installing that?

The update on the 12th looks to be both a site issue (confirming what Synology stated about maintenance) as the entire /release/ directory went AWOL yesterday AND an update to the release package. The last couple of times this happened the things that changed in the release package were install scripts used to install the package and translate the settings. You can check what changed by changing the .pat extension to .zip and uncompressing. the last major update that was changed without changing the build number, there were a number of JS ,Python and other scripts that were changed. So this would explain both the .pat file changes, the build number changes, and Synology saying it was site maintenance. IF the issues people were having were due to the install scripts falling in some setups, then it makes sense to rebuild the .pat files to correct this even if the OS build is the same.

A post here or a letter from Synology would help make this clear.
