1 USB Printer + 1 USB Storage Disk

Unread post by NetworkSet00 » Sat Jul 02, 2016 12:41 pm

Hi,

I'm thinking about buying the Synology Router, but I runned into a problem: Only 1 USB Port (I mean, seriously, 2016, IoT era... 1 USB PORT ONLY??? COME ON, SYNOLOGY!!) and I want to share 2 USB devices: A Toshiba mk5065gsx disk and a HP Officejet j5780. Is there anyway to do it? A Male USB to 2 Female USB adapter? A USB to rj45 cable to use it with the printer?

Thanks for the help.

You can just use a regular USB-hub, to connect more usb devices.

Doesn't your printer have Wi-Fi?

I find that works well.

It does not. My printer was bought before the Wi-Fi/IoT era. Hub sounds good, but this: "Connecting a printer behind a USB hub is not supported." (https://www.synology.com/en-global/comp ... mode=false).

Anyway, I searched and I saw some Synology NAS owners with the same problem, and for a few it worked with a USB hub anyway. So I'm gonna test it.

Please report back if it works. I wouldn't know why not, but never tried a usb printer (I have a network printer). I just use a hub for multiple usb drives, both on my NAS and my RT1900ac never had any problems.
