Domain admin - no longer Synology admin

Postby Hamsterman » Fri Apr 21, 2017 7:35 am

My main user on the Synology is actually a Domain Admin on my Windows AD.
Everything worked fine - and I could use the Synology as if I was a local Synology Admin.

Then I had to change the name of the Synology which triggered a forced leave domain and rejoin it.

After that the same domain admin user is no longer seen as a local admin on the Synology.

Can I reset something or what do I do?

Yes, you need reset NAS.
Hold the reset button for a few seconds until the sound appears.
Let go button.
NAS will reset admin password.

I am not sure about that one - is it that simple to reset the admin pass.

And what do you mean about resetting the NAS - will all my settings go away.

You asked about admin password. I gave you a solution (reset admin password only).
Your problem is, you are sure or not. :D
Read manual of Synology.

When resetting the router to factory default, the admin password is reset and all the settings will go to factory default. So you will loose your settings. If this will solve your issue in the first post, I wouldn't know. Best is to contact synology support about this. They are normally very quick in getting you a response. https://account.synology.com/support/support_form.php

You gave solution for a NAS, this part of the forum is the router section, is something different than using a NAS with other consequences what you suggest.
