does anyone now if the packages "Network Center" and "Network Tools" we see running in the video above will be available for the other Synology NASes? it might seem yes, because the package center is really the same..

it would be fantastic to use my DS712+ as a router

tell a bit more
I know I can install other operating sistems on Synology NAS but what I'm willing to see is a set of packages from Synology - like those running on the 1900ac router - that can make any Synology NAS with two ethernet ports act as a router

I hope it supports creating multiple local VLAN's (on a per port basis for example, up to 4 max obviously), seems like a no-brainer for Synology to do this but you never know. I'd expect it under the "Local Network" tab but so far there's no screen shots of that.

A few more screenshots of the user interface would be great Synology folks.

The DS can already act as a DHCP server, thats what I meant.

Synology Router 1900AC -QOS for All Guest Users?

Unread post by grayedout » Thu Jun 18, 2015 3:20 pm

I was wondering is the new Synology Router 1900AC can offer a QOS setting for all Guest Used that throttles there overall bandied. I have seen the Youtube clip which has an example of picking a User then Selecting Youtube as source so you can limit bandied for that user on Youtube , this is a great function .. but I would also like to create a Guide Account for All friends that list my Home and limit there overall speed ?

Best

yes. it came to my mind also. But my second though is, there is plenty of possible last mile connectivity, what providers are giving to people. so maybe it is enough simply have wan port, and and isp provider blackbox, which will assign public/private ip to wan port...
Agree that WAN is sufficient. But much better would be to have 2 WAN ports to be able to setup a backup connection if primary fails.

Haha, yeah, they should put everything in there...

Then call it a Advanced Managed WiFi Router Deep Packet Inspecting Firewall Network Attached Media and Storage Device.

Absolutely! I actually searched for this trhead to suggest this, just to find it already here :)

I do not look forward to buying an extra external DSL modem and have two bulky devices.

What would also be great is to the ability to use one of the LAN ports as a WAN port. All Asus routers have this functionality. In fact you can choose 2 LAN ports to "convert" to WAN ports.

This way it can do DSL connections as well as any other WAN type connections. Hopefully they consider this for future versions

Any update on when this router will be available? Some articles written in May say its avail in June and it's now August.
