Unread post by milamber1978 » Tue Jan 02, 2018 9:53 am

Hello Everybody,

I wish you a happy new year for you and your family

I would like to know if you can give me an information please.

I have a HA CLUSTER in production.
Raid 5(10 SSD hard Drive 500 Go) with 2 hot spare disk.

I would like to know, how the system do if one of my hard disk on the raid is dead.

He go directly on the passive serveur or he reduild the system with one of my hot spare disk and do the same on the passive serveur.

Thank you for your help,

Best Regard,
Fred

Hi

Because i had the same question, i opened a ticket (#2018973) with Synology support. The response (translated from german) was:

-Use of HS is not recomended in SHA clusters. The reason for this is that it must be placed both on the active, as well as on the passive node
-In the event of a RAID failure of the active node, the HS kicks in and there is no failover to the passive node.
-Only if the raid group is crased on the active node, a failover is performed
