anybody else tested this? does that mean the 214play can now do transcoding, i.e. my usecase is a synology and the chromecast with non chromecast compatible video library (MKV +AC3/DTS or avi).

This Worked for me, my specs are:
- DS214Play
- Google Chromecast
- IPhone

DS Video: Plays DTS without any ploblems
Plex: Plays DTS but not so smooth, the NAS processing goes too 80/90%. So i am getting my money back since the native apps works better.

Solution:

Instructions:
1- Download the file
2- Open package center
2- Select manual installation (select the file)
3- Install
and you are done, you don't even have to reboot.

Ps: The nzbToMedia comes in the nzbGet, however after the installation I am having problems with user permissions. I google it and find this: https://couchpota.to/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1477
Does anyone have the same problem? Does anyone now if this solution is secure?

That package doesn't work on DS412+, wrong processor probably.. :/

probably because the play is an intel processor and yours is an ARM processor. the + is not fit for realtime transcoding...

If I recall correctly, I had no issues playing back DTS content back in the day when Videostation allowed it.

Thats correct. One for DSM 4.3 and one for 5.0. Wouldt be nice to know if its working for you as well..

Just tried it, but all I get is the following message

And this for all my movies.

/volume1/video/tools/convert_mkv_ac3.sh /volume1/video/movies/ > /volume1/video/tools/log-movies

This is the right way or not?

Dont know if you are refering to my posts, but seems that there is a miscommunication.

You are on a two-way strategy:

First is that you are converting according the OP

The second is using the ffmepgtodts plugin. This one is ment for untouched video to play with videostation or on youre pc. There is no need to convert. Try it with a untouched video with DTS-sound
