sendmail function stopped working

Postby vassil_bk » Wed Feb 28, 2018 10:31 am

Hello,

After the update of WordPress package to the latest 4.9.1 version 'sendmail' function of the PHP stopped working. This caused the contact form of my site and some e-mail notifications to stop working too.

I read this tutorial about configuring the ssmtp: http://www.openstora.com/wiki/index.php ... _for_Gmail
Found out that my '/etc/ssmtp/ssmtp.conf' file was empty. I filled it according to the manual above and made the following link:
# ln -s /usr/bin/ssmtp /usr/sbin/sendmail

Then I executed:
# /usr/bin/ssmtp -t
and the 'sendmail' function worked. Unfortunately this was only temporarily - after an hour 'sendmail' stopped again and I had to run the command again.

With the previous release of WordPress I never had to do any of these and the 'sendmail' function was working just fine.

Does anyone have an idea how to fix the issue?
