WordPress Update on Synology

Postby nickbeard » Tue Nov 10, 2015 5:37 am

I am currently running a wp.org instance on a synology NAS. Synology has the ability to install WP as a package for a single installation, however I have four websites each needing their own wp instance, thus I followed the instructions to install wp.org manually. I am currently unable to update WP to any newer WP version.

I have disabled all addins, plugins, etc. I have confirmed port 21 access and my un/password by https://ftptest.net. I can update all of the plugins, some of the themes, but not WP itself. I get this error:

Downloading update from https://downloads.wordpress.org/release ... undled.zip

Unpacking the update…

Could not copy file.: wordpress/wp-admin/css/colors/ocean/colors.scss

Installation Failed

Any thoughts?

Hi.

I have the similar error but with wp-settings.php. If someone have a answer you will probably help two users :)

So I just wanted to follow up and mention that during the timeframe of the original post I was running a separate install of WP for each of my four websites. A lot of management headaches came with that. I just recently decided to install WP plugin that is native to Synology. I modified the wp-config to allow for multisite and I use a domain mapping plugin to manage all four websites automatically. It now updates all my plugins perfectly. I am closing out this request for help, but I do see that Synology's native WP install is a version or two behind the latest that WP.org publishes. I will submit a new thread to discuss this issue.

No Wordpress Core Update possible

Postby kjoussen » Fri Apr 28, 2017 10:50 am

Hi there.

A couple of months ago i updated my wordpress not only over the officiial WP-path but also the Synology Wordpress Package (which is alsways some weeks behind the official version).

Since then i see in the Dashboard updates for Plugins and Themes and the updates are running smooth but there is no message indicating that there is a new version of Wordpress Core itself.
My installation says that i have the most recent version running (4.7.3), but this is wrong as there is 4.7.4 out there. (But only on wordpress.org, not by Synology).

First question: how to fix this?

Second question: must i use the Synology Package or can i set up a "normal" web with the standard installation package from wordpress? If so, i would consider to switch over as the Synology package with the newest version is always some weeks late.

Thanks in advance.

Try add

Code: Select all

define('FS_METHOD', 'direct');

under wp-config.php

Return to “Wordpress”
