Hi Nimloth. Thanks for all your great work.

One question: I'm getting this error each time I issue a start/stop/rescan command.

Code: Select all

/volume1/@appstore/minidlna/bin/import-environment: line 4: [: : integer expression expected

Thanks again!

Hmm just tested and I don't have this error.
Are you on DSM6 ?

Open file:

Code: Select all

/volume1/@appstore/minidlna/bin/import-environment
and change value

Code: Select all

-eq
to

Code: Select all

=

Indeed, DSM6 in DS215j. The modification you suggested did the trick. I need to learn the language...

Nothing to thank. Thank YOU!

Hi all

i would really really like to get miniDLNA running on the DS215j with DSM6.0.1. It's easy to add nimloth's repository to the packet sources (thanks for the good work!). DSM installs miniDLNA from there without any problems. But whenever I like to start the service DSM simply claims that "the service cannot be started", nothing else, no reason, no error message.

Is there any way to debug this?

I'm using the last DSM version on a DS215j and it works.... Did you try to start it manually from the console, see what happens?

Code: Select all

sudo /var/packages/minidlna/scripts/start-stop-status rescan

I had to modify it though, following the doc from Nimloth:

Yes, I had already modified the specified file. But running the start-stop-script pointed me to the second error. My appstore path is located at /volume2. But @appstore/minidlna/etc/minidlna.conf contains a couple of hardcoded paths assuming that the appstore is located at /volume1. After changing them appropriately I can start miniDLNA without any issues.

And it is great! All my clients which always had really annoying issues playing from the Synology mediaserver are perfectly playing from miniDLNA.

Thank you, and especially Nimloth of course,

grix

P.S. I wonder whether there is some global environment variable containing the actual path to the appstore directory...

Will try to fix hardcoded paths when I find some time :)

EDIT: Updated to 1.1.6 and fixed hardcoded paths

Just wanted to say thanks for providing a nice simple lightweight DNLA server for my 215j. Thank you! :D :D

I do have a problem whereby miniDLNA isn't populating audio or video, yet photo works fine. I'm using all default folder paths on my syno. I've checked the minidlna.conf file to confirm this. Since the photo incremented in the webUI, I would expect the audio and video to do the same, but it isn't.

The log shows permission denied on music and video folders. Photo folders has no special permissions and yet works ootb. Music and video wont work, no matter if I give explicit r or rw permissions.

MiniDLNA installed and run as admin user.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

That's was the first thing I did. It made no difference. You'll see from my post I gave miniDLNA explicit rw permissions to the required folders. This did not work.

Is there a miniDLNA user? Hidden?

Thank you.

Yes, there is "minidlna" user created during package install and under this user application is started.
This user is member of "users" group.

Is strange: I have the same model (DS215j) and it works like a charm. And yes, there is a minidlna user. But is not hidden. It might sound obvious, but did you try to remove it and reinstall it all over again? :(
