Re: MongoDB and Ubiquiti UniFi Controller

Postby jcbpublic » Mon Sep 21, 2015 8:58 pm

First post here. Question when trying to install Unifi controller package on 213j. I have installed java using the JavaManager package. Java installation showed success.

When installing the unifi package I get the following error upon attempted startup:
Failed to run the package service
Port 8080 not available
ERROR:Java is dead.

Uninstalled with rebooting between packages, still no success. Also tried installed java using 7 and 8 embedded still without luck, although with different error messages.

I am open to suggestions.

Thanks

Solved :D

Uninstalled MariaDB, Time Backup, Zarafa and PERL package since I was not using them.

Hi,

If the Ubiquiti controller is running, would that stop my hard drives from entering hibernation mode?

Hi,

i'm trying to find some no-sql database like mongodb or couchdb for my Synology ds215j. But i didn't find anything already compiled for Marvell Armada 375. Do you think it is possible to make version for this architecture? Maybe i can try to compile it by myself, can you give me some hints?

Thank you,
Lukas.

Hello,

I have tried installing the Unifi controller package from http://synology.acmenet.ru/ but it says install failed. I guess that it is due to the incompatibility between MongoDB from the same source en DSM 6.0-7135 on my DS214+.
Could someone help me find the appropriate MongoDB package?

I am having this problem as well... The UniFi controller won't start... or at least it doesn't admit it in Package Center.
I have Java installed under JM, current version of Mongo, tried UniFi 4.8.7 beta and 3.2, also I am on DSM 6.0.

I uninstalled all unused packages, and even did a complete DSM reset and only install Java, Mongo and UniFi.

I will either get Failed to run package service or Failed to run package Service and Already Running.
Sometimes typing in the IP address:8080 will take me to the UniFi login page, sometimes it won't, sometimes it may log in, sometimes it will sit at login and never go further.

There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason for what or when it decides to work.

The ONLY other package even installed is Plex Media Server.

This is on a DS1515+ 6GB RAM.

I tried reverting to DSM 5 during the reset but it only wanted to use 6.0.

I have a DS414 and got the notification to upgrade my UniFi Controller to the 4.8.12 release, which I did. After that, the controller won't start. I get the message:

"Failed to load the package service. MongoDB is dead exception in thread "launcher"".

I've uninstalled the controller and then reinstalled but get the same error.

Don't know if it matters but the system is running DSM: 5.2-5644.

This has been running great for about 6 months or so and then broke with this update, it seems.

I have the exact same problem on same version of DSM. Also tried to remove and re-install package, and still get "MongoDB is dead" error. How annoying....

I've found a solution for this issue as I had the same problem,

I couldn't get it to run on the current version of 5.2xxxx, so I unistalled MongoDB, Java, Controller. Installed DSM 6 beta, and installed Java > MongoDB > Controller and it works without a hitch.

Hi,
I have the problem, that the UniFi Controller does not start. Everytime I try to start the package I got the message as seen in the attachment.

Any idea what the problem is?
My System: DS215j, DSM 5.2-5644 Update 5, UniFi 4.8.14-160223, Java with Ver.: 1.7.0_60

I also struggled with the launcher failure. Eventually, I increased the timeout from 60 to 360 in the startup script and it worked.

SSH login to your Synology and become root:

% sudo su -

Change the timeout in the UniFi controller startup script. The Unix command 'sed -i' will make the change in-place. You can also use 'vi' to edit manually. The file argument is quoted because it contains spaces. If you're not comfortable with cut/paste/run, then make the change manually.

% sed -i 's#TIMEOUT=60#TIMEOUT=360#' "/var/packages/UniFi Controller 5/scripts/start-stop-status"

This will change the time the startup scripts waits for MogoDB to be started from 60 seconds to 6 minutes.

You should be able to start the package after this change.

Since the most recent update of DSM I can no longer access the Unifi Controller on my Synology. On Firefox it tells me the connection got interrupted and on Internet Explorer I get the message that I should enable TLS 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2, but these protocols already are enabled. The package is "started" in the Package Center. Anyone else has this problem? I would like to access it at least one more time so I can take a backup of the site.
