For some reason my camera is no longer working (I have a licence, and my other camera works) see attached.

The camera in question is this one

Is there some way I can debug this to see what's causing the issue?
Below are the current running processes:

Code: Select all

root 8163 0.3 1.1 1948148 2940 ? Sl Dec23 3:24 /var/packages/usb_webcam/target/mjpg_streamer -b -i /var/packages/usb_webcam/target/input_uvc.so -d /dev/video0 -r 640x480 -f 5 -y -n -o /var/packages/usb_webcam/target/output_http.so -p 8081 -w /var/packages/usb_webcam/target/www
root 8213 0.2 1.7 40024 4376 ? Sl Dec23 2:50 /var/packages/usb_webcam/target/mjpg_streamer -b -i /var/packages/usb_webcam/target/input_uvc.so -d /dev/video1 -r 640x480 -f 5 -n -o /var/packages/usb_webcam/target/output_http.so -p 8080 -w /var/packages/usb_webcam/target/www
Please note, camera on right is black due it being night time and I am not at the address for the camera (VPNed in)
The camera that is not working is a 1080x1920 camera, but I've tried it on 640x480 to rule out any issues with the high resolution.
The camera was working for around 12/13 hours until it stopped working.

Please read the Licensing section in the !ReadMe.txt file for details.

In general, dmesg command output tells you more. If possible, please try to reboot your NAS and check if the issue occurs again. Also please follow the instructions I sent you through PM and let me know.
What I would recommend is to avoid YUV mode if both webcams support MJPEG compression or try to swap that setting option between webcams. You may also try to increase FPS rate a bit (5 --> 10).

Kind regards,
OneSynoUser.

Dear OneSynoUser,

Could you please upload the files through another filehost? The files are (here at least) not available. According to the reviews this filehost cannot be trusted and has been labeled as scam multiple times. Paying for a license for your program is no problem (if it works). The file I am looking for is: usb_webcam-6.1-39ARM5.zip.

Thanks in advance.

With kind regards,

Laurence

Dear OneSynoUser,

I managed to install the USB Webcam app. Unfortunately I am not able to run the application as you mention in the ReadMe file.
When I try to run the app, it stops after a few seconds. I have a Synology 213 with DSM 6.1.4 running. What am I doing wrong?

Hello, maybe Turbobit is not an ideal hosting, but I do not plan to change it at the moment.

The USB_Webcam app needs an UVC compatible webcam connected otherwise it does not start. Please check your Inbox for instructions how to run a detailed diagnostics and let me know.

Kind regards,

OneSynoUser.

I got the same issue with my Microsoft HD3000 which is on the UVC compatible list. Any clues?

Did you try to change the default USB_Webcam settings as recommended in the !ReadMe.txt file? For webcams that does support MJPEG compression as in your case, you should turn off the YUV compatibility mode. Also the resolution and FPS rate must match the resolution & FPS that your webcam supports.
Please check your Inbox for instructions how to run a detailed diagnostics and let me know.

Kind regards,

OneSynoUser.

Version magic errors are OK but this error message is bad:
ERROR in stm_v4l2_capture_s_fmt_vid_cap: Input not set, call VIDIOC_S_INPUT
As DS216play is a bit specific hardware, I am sorry but it is not supported by USB_Webcam driver package.
Is there any chance that "USB Webcam Driver" support DS216Play?

Unfortunately not (from my side) as it uses a specific CPU and it's not used anymore in latest Synology models.

Thank you for your answer.
Is there a chance that your drivers will be compatible with the DS218Play model?

No problem. :-)
Yes there's a chance, if there's a demand, as DS218Play uses the same CPU as some other x18 models but currently I have no NAS device to develop / test on.

Are you sure?
According to the synology website DS218Play has a processor "Realtek RTD1296 64bit" and eg Ds218j has "Marvell Armada 385 88F6820 (32bit)" and DS218 + has Intel Celeron J3355.

I can change ds216 play on DS218Play but I would like to be sure that your drivers will work.

Yes I am. :-)
See the complete table here:
https://www.synology.com/en-us/knowledg ... y_NAS_have
But there's no promise from my side, just maybe... :-)

BTW. DS218j should already be covered but not tested...

OK, thanks for the great news :)
I will try to order DS218Play: P as soon as possible (although I would like to get rid of DS216Play first)
