Is it possible to replace Minecraft_server.jar with the new version to update to 1.12? Kids keep asking, and it doesn't seem like Collin is going to get to it. Has anyone tried this? Any luck?

If I don't hear anything by this weekend I'll give it a shot and report back for others. Thanks!

Rather than trying to update this package to the new server, I went this route instead: https://drfrankenstein.co.uk/2017/03/15 ... ology-nas/

It allows you to run a Minecraft server in Docker, which allows you to decide where you want to store the Minecraft folder (for me I put it in a share, so now it's very easy to get to things like config files without using ssh). It was crazy easy to setup, and runs great on my DS916+ (I understand it's not an option for non-intel systems).

Sorry, my son spent a fair amount of time grounded from electronics at the end of the school year and we've had a busy summer and I really hadn't paid much attention to Minecraft. I just updated the packages today but they're not working on my DSM 6.1 installation. They keep messing around with things in DSM and breaking them. I had put of installing 6.1 for a while but finally did, now I've got to figure out what's wrong.

A lot of the code (like the public directory mentioned above) worked on older versions of DSM but is now broken. Each time DSM has changed I've patched it to get it back working, but I haven't really worked that hard at it. I'm not sure what's up now, but I plan to get it back working.

Today the 1.12 update came available in Package Center of my DS216play.
When I try to update my Minecraft Server I get the error that it can not update Minecraft Server.

Anyone having the same problem? Any fix or alternative?

Hi fransbas,

the scripts in the package from "hildinger.us" are corupt for some reason.
You also may use "http://source.synology.me/spkrepo/spkrepo/packages" as repo or download the *.spk directly and install it manually.

The only limitation is the difference in naming the versions:
The current version should be "1.12.0-0008"
the "synology.me" version is simply named "1.12"

As a result the package center still will recommend an update after installation. You can fix this by editing the current version no. in "/etc/packages/spigot/INFO" (but this isn't required to have a working 1.12 on your system).

Best, hoewer

Is it due to this issue that I cannot update the server with Package Center on my 216PLay with DSM 6.1?

Hi Hoewer,

Thanks for the information!
There is no 1.12 Minecraft.spk, and I am running the Minecraft Server without Spigot or Craftbukkit.

What happens when I run the Spigot.spk file? Does it update my minecraft server or do ik get a new package 'Spigot", what happens with the excisting worlds?

Hope you can help me.

regards,

Frans

Note that the packages at source.synology.me are almost exactly the same as mine. Manfred Stumpf maintains those (that's why the text is in German). He is locally hosting the .jar files, but actually getting them from the same mirror I'm getting them from. I prefer to download from the source because it's clearer to people where the programs are coming from. Otherwise we're basically using the same source. He has made a few changes, but nothing that I can see that would impact the install.

Anyway, I have cleaned things up and have them running now. Sorry for the problems. It seems it wasn't 6.1, it was something I had merged in from github that I thought was harmless -- but wasn't. Installer really needs some cleanup, as I found a few things while looking for this that should be better, but for today just happy it's all working.

Hello everyone,

I've just successfully run the minecraft server on my synology NAS today.
I used putty with the command "java -jar minecraft.jar -nogui" to start my server and it worked.

However the server seems to shut down after I close the putty. (turn off my PC in other words, my DS916+ is always on)
Does anyone know how to keep the minecraft server running on my NAS? Any hint would be appreciate!

Thank you all!

Sorry for the borked Spigot/Bukkit links. Should be fixed. 1.12.1 out.
