NFS mount issue after upgrading to 1869

Unread post by mfulop » Wed Jul 20, 2011 10:05 pm

Can anybody please confirm that NFS shares stopped working after upgrading DSM to 1869?

To be exact, it seems the first NFS share mount is successful but anything else fails.
Also, RO shares are still working on a media player acting as NFS client.

----------------------------------------
On NFS client, mount reports:
mount: RPC: Unable to receive; errno = Connection reset by peer

On NFS Server, in /var/log/messages:
...
Jul 20 22:22:14 exportfs[6626]: failed to lock /var/lib/nfs/.etab.lock: errno 9 (Bad file descriptor)
Jul 20 22:22:14 kernel: [ 80.780000] svc: failed to register lockdv1 RPC service (errno 97).

Jul 20 22:22:14 kernel: [ 80.810000] NFSD: unable to find recovery directory /var/lib/nfs/v4recovery
...

Yep, I can confirm this problem.

Only one of my fstab mounts works on my Ubuntu machine. The error message in the log file is the same as above.

Honestly guys, I could not reproduce this error message on 1869.
I was using Ubuntu 10.10 and followed the Wiki page to create NFS mount points in /etc/fstab.

I have 3 NFS shares enabled on the DiskStation, the mount point that I edited in /etc/fstab are shown as below:

192.168.0.x:/volume1/test1 /mnt/test1 nfs nouser,rsize=8192,wsize=8192,atime,auto,rw,dev,exec,suid 0 0
192.168.0.x:/volume1/test2 /mnt/test2 nfs nouser,rsize=8192,wsize=8192,atime,auto,rw,dev,exec,suid 0 0
192.168.0.x:/volume1/test3 /mnt/test3 nfs nouser,rsize=8192,wsize=8192,atime,auto,rw,dev,exec,suid 0 0

I was able to mount those three NFS shares and access them correctly on Ubuntu when I tried to mount them using "mount -a" command.

Would it be possible to provide us more information about how this issue be reproduced?

Thank you so much!!

Hi antoiney,

do you have access to submitted beta reports? Check out issue #104 where I provided details.

Hello mfulop,

Yes, I just noticed about it.

It is quiet complicated than I thought, which is about the NFS connection setup between the DiskStation and the Mede8er MED500X Media Player. An autorun script file as edited on the Media Payer is no longer be connecting with the DiskStation anymore since the DSM update. I may have to escalate this inquiry with our system developers for further assistance.

Keep you posted, thank you.

Hi antoiney,

Make no mistake: the MEDE8ER works. The Syno<->Syno NFS connection is broken.

After upgrading to 3.2beta and OS X Lion I cannot connect to my NFS shares, too.

Same here. Another Syno as NFS client does not work. Mede8er as NFS client still works (though it's accessing a RO NFS export).

true. after reboot nothing works.

but the problems are completly random. on one server i can mount 3 nfs shares, but the 4th is not working. on another server i can mount the 4th, but not 2 others.

so: nfs is completly f*** up

I've problems with NFS-mounts, too...
From my Satellite-Receiver, which works under Linux, NFS-mounts don't work anymore. Sometimes the first mount after rebooting the Synology DS211+ works, but usually the connection get lost afterwards and another try to mount the nfs-share doesn't work.
Similar problem with my Media Player, Popcorn Hour A-200: NFS-mounts work after rebooting the Syno, but after a few hours the connection to the Syno get lost and I have to reboot again.
