DS411+ - Temperature problem

Postby PeterV » Tue Jun 28, 2011 12:59 pm

Hi.
After upgrading to DSM 3.1-1742 I have an issue with temperature/fan.

In system information I see CPU temperature 83-84 C, and CPU fan works on a highest speed every 10 minutes.
In room temperature is about 23 C, CPU usage not more then 5-7 %.
Previously fan CPU fan work on a highest speed only when CPU load was more then 50%, and it was very rarely.

lm-sensors detect the same temperature 83-84 C. May be problem in kernel ?

Sorry, but problem not with Disk and SMART, but with very high temperature of the CPU, as you can see in my initial message.
83 degree by Celsius, and every 5-10 minutes CPU cooler work on the very higs speed with high noise - it was very annoying.
Before upgrading of the DSM I don't have this issue.

Where did you read the CPU temperature?
When I'm checking the temperature under system information, the displayed temp seems to always match the highest HDD temp.
For example on my current system
HDD1 29°C
HDD2 30°C
HDD3 30°C
HDD4 32°C

Temp under system info = 32°C... :?:
Synology Model: DS-411+
Firmware Version: 5.2-5592 Update 4
HDD Model: 4xSeagate ST2000DL003 2To - SHR

Before upgrade it has the same values, as on your.
Thats why I wrote my topic.
CPU load are low - not more then 5-10 percent.
May be it's not real values ... and problem with OS kernel/modules ...

The best you can do, is to submit a ticket to Syno support.
One day I has a trouble on my previous DS207+, the support fixed it through a telnet session...
Good luck, sorry I can't help. :?
