Ports changed for the mobile apps

Unread post by Gaunts Ghost » Fri Jun 26, 2015 10:20 am

Did anyone else notice that they seem to have changed the standard ports that the mobile apps use from 5005/5006 to 5000/5001(the standard https ports)?

I wonder why that is.

Hi Gaunts Ghost,

That was for DS file, during a major update 2 years ago (DSM 4.3 I believe).

It's due to way DS file communicates with File Station: DSM 4.3 introduced the File Station API, DS file started to use this API. Before that, using DS file required to enable WebDAV on the DiskStation, which meant opening ports 5005/5006. With the API, it's the same ports as DSM (5000/5001).

Other apps should not have been concerned. I hope this sheds a bit of light on this change and answers your question.
