HTTPS Access to Photo Station - Site is unsecure

Postby wegs » Sun Oct 01, 2017 12:15 pm

Hi,

I'm trying to get my Photo Station to connect through an HTTPS URL but I cannot get it to work. I can only get it to work through the quickconnect which uses a HTTP URL. I am using Google Chrome.

Router configurations:
I have enabled port 80 for HTTP/TCP
I have enabled port 443 for HTTPS/TCP
I have enabled port 5000 for DSM/TCP
I have enabled port 5001 for DSM/TCP
I have enabled port 7000 for DSM/TCP
I have enabled port 7001 for DSM/TCP

DSM settings:
DSM ports HTTP: 5000, HTTPS: 5001

Automatically redirect HTTP connections to HTTPS enabled

I connect to my diskstation via a secure site with a secure certificate from my domain. https://mydomain:5001

When I select the Video Station package, it takes me to the Video Station secure site no problem but when I choose the Photo Station package, the connection times out and cannot connect to the Photo Station.

I can access the Photo Station and Video Station through the ds apps on my IOS devices. I can connect to photo station via the QuickConnect but it changes the site to https://dsipaddress/photo where the https is crossed off in red and says the site is not secure.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

So I was able to get everything working again. IT issues can be quite fickle sometimes.

After fooling around with the certificates and getting no where with my photo station, all of a sudden nothing was secure. I log into my router and found out that random additional ports for my port 80, 443, 5000, and 5001 were being forwarded to another external port that I hadn't set up. I deleted all my current certificates and rebooted my router. I also noticed my webroot picked up some malware on my computer so I had that removed.

I logged back into my router to make sure nothing was erroneous and everything looked correct.

I created a new subdomain with a different name, setup a new SSL certificate with Lets Encrypt, made sure my router was back to normal with the valid ports opened still. I verified my DSM settings, logged out, logged back in and bam everything is secure, from the DSM to photo station to video station to everything. I verified I could connect off of my network and it is still secure.

I guess what I have learned is that starting from scratch and starting from the basics does solve issues. Good luck everyone with your DSM!

I'm having a similar issue. I was not able to connect to photo station from outside my network. While messing around with the settings I changed to redirect to HTTPS. Now I can access photo station from inside my network. I get the same message. any suggestions?
