Is there any rumors about a successor of the ds210+?

If you google for DS211+ you'll find suppliers in mainland Europe and Australia advertising it, and there is also a set of marketing images on the Synology site :- http://download.synology.com/download/m ... os/ds211+/

Looks like the marketing photos of the DS210+ appeared on the 9th April 2010 and the Synology annoucement for it came on the 17th May 2010.

I've been trying to buy a DS210+ in England for the last few weeks but availability has really dried up, my order is still saying due in 3-4 weeks, maybe Synology have stopped making it in preparation for the DS211+ launch.

looks to me like a re branded 710+, plus hardware encryption.
half the memory, but same CPU + hardware encryption and no extendability.

Price is 369€ in Europe and some sites talk about delivery in December.

Unfortunately is out of time for me. I just order a 710+ as a replacement of a faulty 209+II. I wish to wait but I am bleeding after 6 weeks without the system.

And also IN CONTRAST TO DS210+ no Wake On Lan either. Very strange!

An Intel cpu should offer double that write speed.

NO WOL???

Or, did whoever typed the marketing folder forget to add it in??
I would have thought it to be a standard feature for the plus series.

No wake on lan, would really blow, as I'm considering an extra syno and my thoughts were set on a 211+ :(

The Dutch translation of the Datasheet does mention Wake on LAN. The English version I saw via the link in one of the earlier posts stil doesn't mention WOL. Very strange.

Maybe it is time for Synology to shed some light on this mystery.

It is indeed listed in the Dutch spec sheet on nasmedia.nl :) Bottom right of the front page.

( 'k heb ook een 207+ ;) )

It seems to be a 211 with something more. It has a mervel cpu, not intel. Ds710+ is better.

Well, that is what you guess. Synology is cheating users, because they only publish CPU frequencies, not the brand and type. Only giving a CPU frequency is non-information! I have asked in the past to be more open about the processors they use, but only got an evading answers.

I think they are pretty open about it:

Well it is slightly different. What you refer to is NOT primarily Synology provided information, but rather what users have published on the public Wiki. They still do not publish it in their datasheets or on their product site where it should be in my opinion.
PS: I was aware of this page but it is good you mention it here as reference for others.

True, you're right. I was a bit too quick: where it says "they" it should have read "we" :D .

You can figure out the type of processor most of the time by guessing, but I do not see the reason not to disclose the manufacturer of the processor. Maybe legal stuff?

Would the same memory bus as the DS211 (16bit@DDR1066) in the datasheet suggest that the DS211+ will have the same Marvell Kirkwood mv6282 processor?
