The released v.1334 is determined by having uncharacteristic "Starting Process" when the Synology NAS booted up from a complete procedure of firmware update - The reason that it caused such problem scenario has been found that if there's any share folder named as a repetition of system default share, Photo, Music and Video for instance, might've freeze condition during rebooting process.

For users whom have performed an updated of v.1334, please contact Synology Online Support for immediate resolutions.

For users whom have not performed an update of v.1334, the fix patch will be available within few hours.

Me, as a Synology rep. is sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.

Regards,
Antoine

Hi synology please let us know if there is a fix for us that have already updated.
It would bring alot of peace to mind, if we knew that the problem can be solved without a new nas box.

I seriously doubt it has fried your NAS.
Most likely, your configuration is toast, so you'll have to reset/restore a new version of DSM 3.0, and restore your configuration from backup.

In any case, that's the approach i plan on taking once Synology releases a new firmware.

Well i dont think it is toast.. But if i can't access the nas on any protocol available, how can i or synology then transfer a new firmware?

After a suggestion from Synology I removed all hdds from my 1010+ and tried installing on that drive. It installed fine and then I switched of the nas and reinserted my normal hdds. It then surprisingly decided to boot properly this time but now my raid is in crashed state. In the storage management it only tells me to remove the volume but that should cause all data to become unavailable. It does not appear to be rebuilding or repairing

I'm not sure the latest version helps us that are stuck at boot without doing something special to 'force' it to reinstall.

Though 1337 patch is online, all the other bits have disappeared. I get a 403 Forbidden - permission denied - error. Had a quick look and even /download/ds/ directory is not visible.

Premature announcement?

Greetings all,

The download site is available now where you may obtain the fix patch - v.1337

Here’s a Standard Guide to reinstall the DiskStation for those who has already updated the prior version (v.1334).

- When you notice a flashing Power LED with Starting Services in Synology Assistant, please hold and press the RESET button at the back of the actual box until a beep sound comes from the Synology.

Release the button and press it again immediately once you’ve retrieved with another beeping as the DiskStation has restored back to the factory default.

- Use the Synology Assistant to reinstall DSM3.0 again with v.1337, follow the installation wizard to complete the setup process.

The DiskStation may boot up correctly after following the above procedures.

Hope this helps, thank you.

Edit: For those who have already updated to the v.1334 without having “Starting Services” issue, you may skip this part and proceed with a usual upgrade procedure.

Reinstalling firmware will keep your data volume and shared folders but the system settings like user account and shard folder privilege will be lost.

Hi NeTaXe,

Will the data remain intack when using the following procedure?

Sure, it only formats the system(first) partition.
The data in the third partition will be well intact.

You may also refer this article here before reinstalling the DiskStation.

Thank you.
