Streaming video

Postby cmbg » Sat Sep 24, 2016 8:42 pm

I just got a DS216j NAS but have been unable to figure out how to stream video from it?

I have a BoxeeBox and a Minix media player doing the transcoding so I just need to access the NAS from these units (more or less). I have installed the Media server, but don't understand what it is supposed to do. I'm more used to my previous Netgear NAS in which I just stated what protocols should be run on each share.

On my Synology, I have created a folder called media containing my videos and another folder called data with all my documents etc. How do I make the media folder DLNA/UnPn accessible or NFS accessible or SMB accessible. My Minix cannot get access to the files but my computer does.
