NFS VAAI plugin crashes something in DSM 6.1.3

Unread post by majinbelail » Fri Oct 06, 2017 8:29 pm

Hi all,

I installed the newest NFS VAAI-NAS p0lugin for my DS1515+. After that under ESXi 6.5 it still showed Hardware Acceleration "Not Supported". I uninstalled the plugin and rebootet the ESXi host.
After the reboot I saw that non of the NFS datastores where mounted. When I tried to mount it manually I got this error message:
NFS mount SYNOIP:/volume4/NFS-NESTED-02 failed: The NFS server does not support NFS version 3 over TCP.
I checked through ssh the nfs service:

rpcinfo -p

program vers proto port service
100000 4 tcp 111
100000 3 tcp 111
100000 2 tcp 111
100000 4 udp 111
100000 3 udp 111
100000 2 udp 111
100005 1 udp 892
100005 1 tcp 892
100005 2 udp 892
100005 2 tcp 892
100005 3 udp 892
100005 3 tcp 892
100024 1 udp 36323
100024 1 tcp 51159

compared to a SYNO which is working it is:
program vers proto port service
100000 4 tcp 111
100000 3 tcp 111
100000 2 tcp 111
100000 4 udp 111
100000 3 udp 111
100000 2 udp 111
100005 1 udp 892
100005 1 tcp 892
100005 2 udp 892
100005 2 tcp 892
100005 3 udp 892
100005 3 tcp 892
100003 2 tcp 2049
100003 3 tcp 2049
100003 4 tcp 2049
100003 2 udp 2049
100003 3 udp 2049
100021 1 udp 36756
100021 3 udp 36756
100021 4 udp 36756
100021 1 tcp 59958
100021 3 tcp 59958
100021 4 tcp 59958
100024 1 udp 58611
100024 1 tcp 60623

You see there is 100003 and 100021 missing. the first one is NFS the other is portmapper. When I try to sudo /usr/syno/etc/rc.sysv/S83nfsd.sh restart to restart the NFS services I get this error message:
svcgssd: no process found
:: Unloading module nfsd ... [FAILED]
:: Unloading module exportfs ... [FAILED]
:: Unloading module rpcsec_gss_krb5 ... [ OK ]
Starting NFS server...
:: Loading module rpcsec_gss_krb5 ... [ OK ]
So currently from my point of view only a reboot can fix this behaviour. This is the third or forth time after installing the VAAI plugin that this happens. Very disappointing when VMs are running on the host and you need to shutdown everything to reboot the box.

Anyone experienced the same issue?

Cheers,
Fred
