How to connect iSCSI to vmware

Unread post by andcbii » Mon Feb 06, 2017 3:59 am

I'm looking for advice on the best method for connecting my synology to a vmware host. I've got an iSCSI target on my synology and was thinking of port bonding the NICs on the NAS, then though a VDS doing the same thing on the vmware host.

I read that but it doesn't explain best practices on the Synology side. I ended up following this guide:

The main points i took away were 1) don't Link Agg the Synology. 2)Setup the LUN as Regular Files with advanced features turned on.

All that Synolog'ys guide is missing a LUN recommendation. Which, if you did research prior shouldn't have been an issue. Advanced file-level LUNs are the only ones that support VAAI which is why they chose that in the article.
