Move files from Shared Folder to iSCSI LUN then delete Shared Folder

Unread post by SoriceConsulting » Tue Jan 02, 2018 9:53 pm

Have a Synology DS1815 with (4) 10TB Disks and 1 Volume. Total Volume size is 26TB
BTRFS File system, Hybrid Raid (SHR) with 1 disk fault tolerance.

I currently have a Shared Folder setup to store backups of some Server data. Contains about 8.8TB of data.

What I'd like to do is:
> Create an iSCSI LUN, thin-provisioned, that would have a maximum size of all available space (about 26TB)
> Copy all the files from the Shared Folder to the new LUN
> Delete the Shared Folder

Since Volume 1 is currently using 8.8TB and has 17.38TB free, it seems like this should work fine. But, since I'm not all that familiar with how NAS storage works just want to make sure I'm not missing something...
