DDNS (can't turn on!?)

Postby 1045642112 » Mon Apr 16, 2018 6:47 pm

Hi all,

I moved to a new working location and placed the DS216j in this new workplace. I have LAN connection, working very well, but I also need to make connection from WAN to acces my workfiles.

The modem in my new workingplace has a changing IP, so I need to use DynDNS, but I CAN NOT setup the DDNS! I did read many many forums about how to fix that (for example: https://www.synology.com/nl-nl/knowledg ... ction_ddns), but DID NOT find any way to configure. There is no link or option to CREATE any DDNS account. Please look at the attachment. There I can't find any working url for that. Or no any option to create a DDNS account or whatever..

There must be a website or link to create a DDNS account, right? I also can't create or turn on DDNS from "account.synology.com"

HOW can I fix this? I need to acces my NAS from outside the LAN...

Any help is welcome.

Steps to add DDNS are in the Synology Knowledgebase. Alternatively, you can use QuickConnect.

But when you say "new workplace" is this your employer? If so you may have firewall issues that will prevent connection.

I tried all help and knowledge already.

Do you have a screenshot for me where you can create a DDNS account?

I don't use Quickconnect, because it is connecting via servers in Germany and that takes tooo long when I use the DS File/Audio/Video.
Using my WAN IP works the fastest, but now I need to setup a DDNS in stead of a IP.

Same computer and laptop and internet security on them, just the modem is different.

Any idea?

Control Panel > External Access > DDNS tab. There you should be able to create a working ddns entry

I told before that that is not working.. I don't know how to place images/attachments in this forum, so I can't show.

But I did figure out the problem. My NAS has no internet connection. That is the reason I couldn't create a new DDNS account when I was on Control Panel > External Acces > DDNS tab. Weird, because I just get app updates and that works, but when I go to Control Panel > Update & Restore > DSM Update. I see "Connection failed, please check your Internet connection".
I need to fix this to fix the other :)

I'm not so good at IP etc.. so any help is welcome :)

My NAS is on 192.168.8.250 and the default gateway is 192.168.8.1 but I don't know what a default gateway is and what to do with it, just like subnetmask 255.255.255.0 nad the ipv6 adress..

Do you guys know what I have to do?

Well it was not clear why you can't setup ddns but ok now that you have stated that you have tried to access it we know thats not the problem. If you are having problem with net access then try with using a different DNS setting in Network section.

Control panel > Network > General > Manually configure DNS server. Use 1.1.1.1 as primary DNS and 1.0.0.1 as your secondary and try getting internet access that way, see if that helps.
