Enable file sharing only on one NIC

Postby LucaTabo » Thu Dec 07, 2017 11:25 am

Good mornig all!
We are setting up two synology RS3617xs+, one for file sharing and one as backup (RSync).
The first NAS will be in LAN with PCs, mac and other servers, the second one will be only attached to the first NAS with a 10Gb link, only for backup purposes.
It will no be visible in LAN to avoid criptolocker and Ransomware infections.
We will enable snapshots on both NAS.

My question is: can I attach a LAN interface of the second NAS in LAN, only to send notifications about the health status and so on?
I would like to put a LAN interface of my second NAS on my LAN network ONLY to send notification. This means that I would like to disable the SMB access on this interface.

Is it possible to implement this scenario?

Many thanks in advance

Best regards
Luca

Control Panel, then select the Network Icon, then go into the sub header “Traffic Control”.

Hi and thanks for the reply.
I am newer on Synology products, so i am exploring these interesting features of these NAS.

BTW, what do you mean? In the TRAFFIC CONTROL session I can only limit the bandwidth for a specific service...not block it at all.

Thanks again
cheers

I think that the firewall can do the trick.
Thank you synology_ukman for the info.

Cheers
