DS211j U-Boot replacement

Unread post by zkrx » Sun Oct 16, 2016 11:59 am

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to quickly share my work about compiling & reflashing a modified U-Boot to the DS211j SPI NOR flash.

I needed to modify the env variables and saveenv wouldn't let me do it. So I recompiled the stock Synology U-Boot with a modified bootcmd that tftpboots a custom kernel from another device on my network. I am now booting a vanilla 4.7 kernel with a custom rootfs.

Anyhow, I've made a git repository with all of this:
https://github.com/zkrx/u-boot-syno

Refer to the README.md there for more precisions.

Cheers!
