Android

Unread post by MattFirewire » Fri Jul 17, 2009 10:21 am

Hey all,

I check the forums everyday but rarely post, just one thing that has got my back up a little. I noticed that there will now be iPhone/iPod Touch applications released along side the new firmware but if you remove your blinkers you will notice not everyone cares to have or love Apple.

Can we please see the same applications released for Android?

Thanks,

Matt

+1

On top of that, when connecting with my G1, I can access the mobile GUI but 2 issues :
1) Not all options are available when connecting
2) once we have asked to move to the desktop view, there is no way to come back to the mobile GUI even by deconnecting/reconnecting.

I don't think that Android is still so common as an iPhone or ever an iPod Touch... There are also a lot of Symbian phones since a long time, and still no support...

Yeah not yet...

Just keep in mind that 20 models will be launched by end of this year, all majors are on (Samsung, HTC, Sony Ericson) even Nokia is studying it.

Connected WiFi devices like ePC from ACER and internet tablet from Archos and other portable video players are also coming.

I also believe that people interesting by a NAS are the same than the one who will move to the Android platform for its capabilities.

NAS, even the one from Synology can't be understood by IPhone users ;-)

I totally agree with ematignon. I am also a Syno + Android user and I think the convergence between these 2 platforms could be easy and natural.

The features I am really waiting for :
- viewing my photos on my android phone
- listening to my music on my android phone
- manage downloads on my android phone

Please, at least make the DSM mobile GUI right for android browsers for the September release !

found this on the Synology web site:

Mobile Photo Station and File Station: Remote Mobile Users can access their Synology DiskStation on Windows Mobile® 6.0 (Internet Explorer® Mobile or Opera® 9.0 and onward) or iPhone OS 2.2.1 onward to view photos and read supported file formats around the world where Internet access is available.

It seems that it is possible to read file from Windows mobile using Opera, does it work using Opera on Android ?

:D not realy...

People calm down, the iPhone guys will do the testing for ya and perhaps you will receive an Android, Symbian WM or what ever platform version if Synology decide to

So just let me say that 99.98% of Ipod users can't understand the NAS concept ;-)
