"DS 107e" fail to update firmware

Postby nextor » Sat Apr 04, 2009 9:48 pm

Hello folks,
I got problem to update the firmware from version "DMS 2.1.0832" to version "DSM 2.1-0839; Build Date: 2009/03/25" in my DS-107e. The fail message is: "Fail to update the file. The file is probably corrupt".

This is a very stressing situation because after the last update to version 2.1.0832 I loss the possibility of access my files using Windows (XP and Server 2003), when I try to map a drive via Synology Assistent I got the message: "Failed to connect to the server. The client may not be connected with the server or the client do not pass the authentication. (Error code: 64)".
Please, I will very glad in case someone help me in this subject.

Hi nextor,

Please download the file again and use the latest one to upgrade the firmware. When upgrading, please make sure to use IE 7 or Firefox 3 and purge all you browser cache.

After the upgrade is complete, pleas make sure to use the latest version of Synology Assistant to map the drive.

Thanks,

I have also found that disabaling Jumbo Frames (if it's on) helps, and also a manual reboot of the DS before upgrading the Firmware

And like 'sangk' says, use version 839 of the Synology Assistant after updating the Firmware
DS-1010+ FW 5.2 5565 update 2 - SHR - 5 x Seagate ST31000528AS 1TB hard drives (using 3 drives at the moment to save on power)
DS-209+II FW 4.2 3255 - Raid 0 - 2 x Western Digital WD7500AAKS 750GB hard drives (on modification shared folder sync (mirroring) from DS-1010+)
DS-207+ FW 3.1 1632 - Raid 0 - 2 x Western Digital WD7500AAKS 750GB hard drives (now passed on to my son in University)
DS-106e FW 3.1 1613 - No longer used, but still sitting on my shelf

I would like to tanks both ntm1275 and sangk for the help. It was exactly what happens. First I tried to install and I got the error, then tried to reboot and after the box started in manual update. Now it looks fine.
