SqueezeCenter and LAME codec

Unread post by aarfing » Sat Feb 21, 2009 11:55 pm

Hi guys,

Does anyone know if Synology's SqueezeCenter Package comes with the LAME codec preinstalled? Or do you have to use SSODS for that?

This would allow for playing my FLAC-files over the internet as an mp3-stream, which would be really neat :)

Hi aarfing,

Late answer but it could help other users . So far, Squeezecenter comes without lame. You have to install it via ipkg.

Then cd to /volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Bin/. Here you have the links to the codecs binaries. Lame is installed
to /opt/bin/. So all you have to do is 'ln -s /opt/bin/lame lame' and voila!

Maybe you will have to close your navigator and reaccess Squeezecenter (or reboot something :) ), don't remember.
