Re: Access FileStation remotely?

Thanks, the tip is still really helpful five years later. My modification was to use https:// so port 7001. The additional step was to setup port forwarding on my router to point port 7001 to the internal IP address of my DSM. 1. Control Panel > Application Portal > Select FileStation/Edit & ena...

Re: Accessing unsync'ed files?

Like sincarne suggested, create user accounts for other colleagues. Or create one user and let various people share that log in. When you set up a user account on your NAS, you can specify which folders on he NAS that user can access, whether it's sync'd or not.

Re: Drive / Cloud Station Server - no desktop backup?

I'm syncing 3 folders and all the sub-folders under those three main folders. When setting up the sync rules, by default Drive (and Cloud Station) has "create drive" or "create cloud station" folder enabled. That's where I ran into the problem of being able to sync only one folde...

Re: Tested. Can Cloud Station AND Drive run concurrently on a PC

It didn't have to be a GoFile link but GoFile was something familiar so that's what I was looking for. What I was getting was an internal link 192.168.0.x/ It wasn't obvious how to generate links with https://mywanip/ I needed pointers to where that went in DSM > External Access > Advanced

Support helped me, got it sorted out to create sharing links using Drive that work from outside my LAN, see topic

Drive. Resolved file sharing URL accessible from outside LAN

Resolved. In thread on Drive https://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic.php?f=291&t=137771 I asked how to create file sharing links with Drive. In my case the resulting URL had a local address https://192.168.0.x:5001/d/f/123456.etc. I was on the Drive webinar tonight and tech support were answeri...

Re: New Drive, file sharing link 192.168.0.56 not gofile

Thanks, I'll check out Cloud Backup. Does it co-exist with Drive? The one place 2-way sync works for me on my Android phone and tablet where I have DS-File installed and photos are backed up automatically from the phone to the NAS. Then when the PC is online, anywhere I am, the photos are downloaded...

Drive. Cobbling together a GoFile.me link

With Cloud Station file sharing links went through the GoFile.me server. Links created with Drive have local addresses such as https://192.168.0.x/d/f/12345678987654321 Logging into DSM then File Station, I generated a sharing link (fictitious, but syntax is correct) https://gofile.me/9xyzM6/ DeUbaY...

Re: Tested. Can Cloud Station AND Drive run concurrently on a PC

These are the options I get with Cloud Station on the desktop (Windows 7 laptop). The two options under Sync Direction are a) Two way sync, and b) Only download sync data from your NAS. Although in mine the second one was "download files deleted from PC". From the Synology webpage https://...

Tested. Can Cloud Station AND Drive run concurrently on a PC

Tested today if both Cloud Station and Drive can be run concurrently on a Windows PC. Cloud Station lets me create file sharing links right in Windows Explorer. These links route through Synology's GoFile server so anyone I send the link to can download the file. However for backup of my laptop Clou...

Re: New Drive, file sharing link 192.168.0.56 not gofile

Yes, the way I use it is by going into DSM > File Station to create a sharing link to share a single file. I can then set it without a need for a user or password, or with as needed, and I can put an expiry date on it if I want to. I usually do this with a folder with 1 or more files in it instead ...

Re: New Drive, file sharing link 192.168.0.56 not gofile

...plain and simply File Sharing does it very well.....I like to remain in full control of what I am doing. Ok, that may be a little more work, but at least I feel the I am the boss, not the DSM. Thanks Flapper, Do you mean going into DSM > File Station to create a sharing link to share a single fi...

Re: New Drive, file sharing link 192.168.0.56 not gofile

I've managed to re-install Cloud Station Drive replacing the newer "Drive", I have my file sharing links again with GoFile. What I miss already in Drive is the option to choose to do one-way sync to the NAS, so if a file is deleted on the PC, the file remains on the NAS. Cloud Station Driv...

Re: Can use existing Cloud Station Win/Mac Client w/ Drive?

Hi narkhelek, Yes, Drive is similar to Cloud Station for syncing files. However if you used Cloud Station to generate links for file sharing, Drive does not do that. Drive creates a local link with an address of 192.168.0.x/..... instead of a GoFile based link. I have yet to find a way to share a li...

Re: New Drive, file sharing link 192.168.0.56 not gofile

Thanks Flopper, I'll see if i can revert back to cloud Station again, though I recall a note that going backwards was not possible. The old way with right click in Windows Explorer worked for me. It was a very fast way to share a large file. And I could share the link and keep updating the file. Whe...
