Re:  SynoDS: Synology DL Station on your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch

By the way, is any other way (without using quickconnect) to have access to the download station via my Iphone ? Neogamaes, I all ready told you that the easiest and more secure way to do what you want, it is unsing an private VPN network and advised you to look into ZeroTier P2P VPN free (up to 10...

Re:  SynoDS: Synology DL Station on your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch

Neogamaes, You can use ZeroTier P2P VPN free (up to 100 devices), available at https://www.zerotier.com/download.shtml . They have Apps for nearly every platform, including: Synology, Mac, Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, iOS, Android, etc... It works by using for authentication private/public keys that you...

Re: Will upgrading to DSM 6.x kill my DS1512+ performance?

I have been running DSM 1512+ with the latest release of DSM for years with having a problem. I have a volume on the new file system. To change the file system: 1.- first you need to copy the files (with their permissions, it must encompass all the ones not by you or your users even if they are hidd...

Re: WARNING!!! Do not use Cloud Station anymore

You will certainly notice it, you may bear with it or not. This reason why for enterprise grade storage no one uses NAS ( Network Attached Storage ) and everyone shift SAN ( Storage Area Network ). Our Synologys have neither the processing power nor the backplane bandwidth to support near line stora...

Re: How to stop and uninstall Universal Search?

THERE IS NO NEED TO UNINSTALL IT ! Even with all indexing disabled, this process will routinely peg 100% of a core. Uninstall it. Uninstall it every time you update DSM, it is garbage that makes your sinology unusable. (DS1815+ gets ground to the ground until I remove Universal Search entirely) Nev...

Re: How to stop and uninstall Universal Search?

I guess that explains why my system, after upgrading to DSM6, now runs HDD access almost non-stop and possibly also why it's now so difficult to get it to respond. I should really know better than to upgrade the big changes as I don't think I've done one yet in the last eight years that hasn't caus...

Re: WD Red 4 TB Bad sectors

Check your other drive, when you get bad one it's usually because a whole production batch got out with errors and chances are that if bought both at the same time they belong to the same batch and has the same problems, and they will become apparent (to you) when the extra space the manufacturer le...

Re: WD Red 4 TB Bad sectors

When you get your RMA drive insert it, let Synology rebuild the array completely, and get the other drive out and pass it thru the Western Digital Application to see if it qualifies for an RMA too... if so do the RMA request. Sometimes drives are failing but don't show it externally because they hav...

Re: configurable mount bind/symlink script for dsm6

Move between relative symlinks pointing to folders on the same volume safes time and spares unnecessary write operations on the disk array, as no copy operation is involved. My observations: Move between relative smylink folders happens instantly regardless of the filesize. (move) Move between moun...

Re: configurable mount bind/symlink script for dsm6

I still don't get what exactly did you accomplish, If when you move between folders there is still copy being made. In AFS the move command is passed to the NAS that actually makes the an actual move (pointers) without involving the client.

Re:  SynoDS: Synology DL Station on your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch

It's basically the apps for download station and file station combined so you don't have to switch apps all the time for managing downloads and files. By the way, GEORGzer a great succinct explanation that Sylver should put at the top of the first post and in the description of the app in the AppSt...
