Re: CS407e unresponsive, then degraded, now dead

Thanks for your replies. So the update is that Synology sent me some replacement cables first, and unfortunately this didn't work as disk 3 subsequently failed again. They then suggested that I run a short and long SMART test on disk 3 using my desktop and the Western Digital tools for that drive, w...

Re: CS406 repeated volume degraded but extended SMART ok

Update: synology support took a look at the log file and saw some errors which could have several explanations. As a first step they posted me some replacement cables and I installed these yesterday and repaired the volume. It's on right now but I need to test it under heavy load and see if the prob...

CS406 repeated volume degraded but extended SMART ok

Hi, I'm posting this for the benefit of the forum whilst the ticket is looked at by Synology support. I've read quite a few posts with similar symptoms, perhaps replacement cables or a disk burn-in will fix the problem but I now need Synology support's help to diagnose further. I've posted a copy of...

Re: 207+ locks me out after failed backup

I'm having the same problem after a RAID5 degraded volume on CS406. Was there a solution here? I'm finding the Synology very frustrating as there is a recurring failure I am trying to resolve and every time a failure occurs I cannot communicate with the NAS and it won't switch off without unplugging...

Compare the Buffalo Terrastation/Terrastation Home Server. The only difference is that the media server on the HS is DNLA certified whilst the other's software is not certified. Until recently the HS was selling at quite a premium. I just want to make sure the CubeStation will be compatible with any...

CS-406/CS-406e Multimedia Server is DLNA certified?

Hi,
the cube station doesn't appear to have DLNA certification.
Can you tell me why? Does this make it more likely that it will be incompatible with hardware not mentioned on your site, for example an Archos 604 wifi?
Thanks,
Jibjab
